Elephantine ( EL-if-an-TY-nee, -TEE-; Ancient Egyptian: ꜣbw; Egyptian Arabic: جزيرة الفنتين; Greek: Ἐλεφαντίνη Elephantíne; Coptic: (Ⲉ)ⲓⲏⲃ (e)iēb, Late Coptic [jæb]) is an island on the Nile, forming part of the city of Aswan in Upper Egypt.
