Nonfiction
Nonfiction was an avant garde, Post-Punk rock band based in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the late 1980s. Members included Benjamin Miller, Laurence B. Miller, Bill Franks, and Scott Petersen. Twin brothers Ben and Laurence, both guitarists, formerly of Destroy All Monsters, and brothers of Mission of Burma guitarist Roger Miller, alternated duties on bass and guitar, with each preferring to play guitar on his own compositions. Bill Franks, also known as Billi Franks, taking a spelling lesson from Jimi Hendrix, was the band's longest-term drummer, and contributed vocals and some compositions. One such composition, "I'm Not Quite Sure" was a modest commercial success, featuring Ben on a saxophone solo. Bill came to the band after it was launched with drummer Scott Petersen. Laurence and Ben once said that the only reason they played so loud was to keep level with Petersen. The band recorded and released two albums, including the songs Walkie Talkie, Junkyard, and I'm Not Quite Sure.
Nonfiction
Nonfiction, or non-fiction, is any document or media content that attempts, in good faith, to convey information about the real world, rather than being grounded in imagination. Nonfiction typically aims to present topics objectively based on historical, scientific, and empirical information. However, some nonfiction ranges into more subjective territory, including sincerely held opinions on real-world topics.Common examples of nonfiction genres include diaries, biographies, news stories, documentary films, textbooks, travel books, recipes, and scientific journals. Nonfiction is a fundamental approach to narrative (storytelling), and often refers specifically to prose writing—in contrast to narrative fiction, which is largely populated by imaginary characters and events (although some remain ambiguous regarding their basis in reality). While specific claims in a nonfiction work may prove inaccurate, the sincere author aims to be truthful at the time of composition. A nonfiction account is an exercise in accurately representing a topic, and remains distinct from any implied endorsement.
