English Definitions:
Kiss Me
"Kiss Me" is a song recorded by Sixpence None the Richer and released on their self-titled album in 1997. The single reached #2 on the Billboard U.S Hot 100. It became the main theme song for the teen film She's All That starring Rachael Leigh Cook. The song was a remarkable success worldwide; it reached number four on both the UK Singles Chart and the Canadian Singles Chart, and number one on the Australian singles chart, making it the group's highest-charting single across the world. The song is also the group's best-selling single in the United States. The song remained at the number two position for six weeks, stuck behind Cher's "Believe", TLC's "No Scrubs" and Ricky Martin's "Livin' la Vida Loca". Even though it only reached second place, the song did have great longevity on the chart, spending 24 weeks in the Top Ten and 35 weeks on the chart. At the end of 1999, Billboard ranked the song as the sixth best-selling single of 1999, ahead of a number of other #1 hits, and the second highest rank for a song that didn't make it to the top, behind Whitney Houston, Faith Evans and Kelly Price's "Heartbreak Hotel," which ranked at #4.
Kiss Me
Kiss Me is a 1972 hit song by the then unknown French pop singer C. Jérôme. The singer had reached 11 on the French charts in 1969 with an earlier single "Quand la mer se retire", but it was this his second single that went to No.1 in France. Meeting by chance the singer Christophe (singer) in the studio while recording in January, the better known singer volunteered to add a harmonica to the chorus. Quickly licensed abroad, the song was released in 22 cover versions in multiple languages, in addition to licensing the original French version. So quick was the songs success throughout Europe and Latin America that C. Jérôme, real name Claude Dhotel, found himself famous in Germany and Austria under the name guessed by licensee Hansa International as "Charles Jérôme". Once known in German speaking countries as "Charles" Hansa persisted with the name Charles releasing later singles like 1974's "C'est Moi" under the wrong singer name. Not having any performing clothes and unable to buy them before the first royalties cheque, C. Jérôme also borrowed an old suit of Christophe's in which to appear on TV and in concert.
